MORRISTOWN (WATE) - A volunteer group is stepping up to help some of the most vulnerable patients at Morristown-Hamblen Health System.
"The Cuddle Crew" works to comfort babies with neonatal abstinence syndrome. NAS affects infants who are suffering withdrawals from the substances their mothers were addicted to during pregnancy.
Babies with NAS typically have trouble with sleeping or feeding.
That's where "The Cuddle Crew" comes in, holding the babies until they get the comfort and rest they need.
Nurses at the hospital say volunteers are most needed during the late-night hours.
If you would like to become a part of the group, call the MHHS Volunteer Program at 423-492-7079.
