Vidant Health Restricting Young Visitors

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Children under the age of 12 are no longer allowed to visit patients at any Vidant Health centers.

That's according to a new restriction put in place by the medical system.

The exceptions to the rule are if the child is actually sick or if the child is visiting a newborn baby, is healthy and will live in the same household as the baby.

Dr. Keith Ramsey, medical director of infection at Vidant Health, hopes the new restriction will protect patients.

"Be a good neighbor, Dr. Ramsey said. "Don't inadvertently infect your friends and family by visiting when you're sick."
