BLUFFTON, S.C. -

UPDATE:Beaufort County Deputy Coroner David Ott says the man killed in the Tuesday night car crash was 22 year old Jose Alfredo Santos-Garcia. Ott says the Bluffton man was pronounced dead on the scene, from blunt force trauma.

Santos-Garcia was the passenger. The driver, 22 year old Eduardo Santos-Gomez, is being charged with felony DUI and driving without a license.

One person is dead and another is hospitalized following a one-vehicle accident tonight in Bluffton.

News 3's Brittany Shane and Ashleigh Holland report the accident happened around 10 p.m. on Bluffton Parkway in front of the Lakes at Myrtle Park Apartments and between Burnt Church Road and Highway 46.

Officials say one person died at the scene.

The second was flown to Savannah for treatment of unknown injuries.

Investigators say the 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse hit the median, swerved off the road and then struck a tree, killing the passenger.

It is still too early to tell whether tonight's weather conditions played a role in the crash.

South Carolina Highway Patrol, Bluffton Township Fire District and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

Authorities have not released the victims' names pending notification of next of kin.
