CEMA: Winter Storm 2014

CEMA isadvising residents that extreme winter weather will be approaching the area asearly as this evening.  The Winter Storm Warning from the National WeatherService remains in effect for Chatham County until 5 pm Wednesday. Conditions will be adverse, especially during the overnight hours.  Roadconditions will be extremely dangerous and Chatham County public works isadvising motorists to avoid bridges if at all possible.   

No advancedplans have been made to close any bridges or roadways.  Police and firethroughout Chatham County will closely monitor all roadways and bridges, andtake whatever actions necessary if they become too dangerous. 

Manymunicipal offices have elected to close due to the inclement weather. Chatham County offices will be closed Wednesday except to personnel directlyrelated to ice or snow response.  Chatham County offices are expected toopen Thursday.
