Fayetteville man charged in Nov. 2013 murder

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

A Fayetteville man has been charged in connection with a November 2013 murder in Hope Mills.

James Michael Van Dorn, 31, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Nov. 23, 2013, death of 26-year old Christopher Lee Jackson, Jr.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says Jackson was killed at inside a home in the 4100 block of Hattie Grey Avenue in Hope Mills.

Deputies say he was hit on the head and his throat was slit.

Jackson's aunt Lorraine Hadley and a woman who lives near Hattie Grey Avenue said Jackson was renovating the home where he was killed.

Van Dorn is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
