JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

East Tennessee State University men’s soccer head coach Scott Calabrese has accepted a position at Florida International University.

Calabrese has been the only coach that ETSU has had in men’s soccer since the program’s inception in 2008.

Meanwhile, the athletics department is launching a national search to find the next men’s soccer coach.

Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Richard Sander released the following statement:

“We want to wish Coach Calabrese and his family all the best as they begin a new chapter in his coaching career, and we want to thank him for his contributions to East Tennessee State University,” Sander said. “Coach Calabrese has done an excellent job with our team, not only in launching the program back in 2008, but also in making our program nationally recognized with multiple conference championships, NCAA Tournament appearances, and impressive national rankings over the last six seasons.
