UPDATE: Beach High School Deals With Student Death

SAVANNAH, GA -

UPDATE: 

Principal Derrick Muhammad says it's 

a solemn day at Beach High School. Counselors and social workers are on hand today after word that a 15 year old student was found dead yesterday morning. 


The body of William Elijah Norman was found in front of a home about 7:30 Wednesday morning. The body was found in the. 900 block of Victory Drive. But police say the youth lived on Staley Avenue. 


Muhammad says "Elijah appeared to be just a normal student."


The principal says a lot of students are hurting today. He says many have been visiting with the personnel brought in to help today. 

  

UPDATE:

News 3 has confirmed that the person found shot to death on West Victory Drive this morning was a student at Beach High School.

Metro Police have identified the victim as 15 year old William Elijah Norman.

Beach High School Principal Derrick Muhammad confirmed to us tonight that Elijah was one of his students. 

"It's definitely tragic that this has happened.  Our hearts go out to the family," Muhammad said.

The school will have extra counselors available tomorrow to help students and faculty cope with the loss.

No arrests have been made.

The 800 block of Victory Drive is back open after Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say a man was found dead outside a home there Wednesday morning.

Police had to close down several blocks within that area while they investigated.

The incident is under investigation.
