Johnson Tops Savannah High on WSAV Blitz Basketball Series

Johnson senior Adrian "Rico" Bonds sparked a fourth-quarter spurt for the Atomsmashers and they beat Savannah High 51-47 in the much-anticipated WSAV Blitz Basketball Series showdown at Savannah State University.

THE GAME WAS TELEVISED LIVE ON WSAV'S MYLC (COMCAST 237).

 

Bonds scored 11 points in the fourth quarter to help extend the Smashers lead to six points late.  Bonds finished with 14 points to lead Johnson . Hakeem Coney scored nine and Ramone Roberson chipped in with 8.

Savannah High took a brief lead late in the fourth but couldn't hang on.  Jamal Norman scored 13 points followed by Branielus Ross with 12.

Johnson improves to 14-4 and 11-1 in Region 1-AAA.  The Blue Jackets fall to 10-1 in the region and 14-3 overall.

On the girls side, Johnson jumped out to a 13-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter and never looked back winning 39-16.  A'Shontiana Williams leading the way with nine points and providing us with the Papa John's Performance of the Game.
