UPDATE:  7:00 p.m. 1/14/14

News 3's Andrew Davis has learned the victim in Friday's shooting, Lennie Alston, is wanted in North Carolina on a felony probation warrant.

He remains hospitalized at Memorial University Medical Center.

UPDATE: The suspect in Friday's Garden City shooting has been denied bond.  Sulaiman Toure was arraigned Monday morning.  The victim, whose name has not been released, remains hospitalized.  Police are still working to determine a motive for the shooting.

UPDATE:  6:50 p.m.

Garden City Police tell us Toure has turned himself in.

He is charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.

We are told the victim is out of surgery and in critical condition.

His name has not been released.

UPDATE 5:30 p.m.

Garden City Police have identified the suspect in this morning's shooting as 29 year old Sulaiman Vasco Toure. 

He is seen in a previous mugshot.

Police have no new information on the victim's condition.

UPDATE:  Lockdowns lifted at both Mercer Middle School and Groves High School.

UPDATE: The lockdown at Mercer Middle School has now been lifted.  Groves High remains under precautionary lockdown.  Police are still searching for the suspect.

A pair of local schools are on lockdown as Garden City Police are investigating their city's first shooting for 2014.

Investigators say it started around 10:30 Friday morning. That's when a man was shot in the parking lot of a gas station along Highway 21 Friday morning.

Police believe he was walking in the parking lot of the Exxon near Wheathill road when someone opened fire, hitting the victim three times.

His injuries are considered life threatening.

Both Groves High School and Mercer Middle School are on lockdown while police search for the suspect.

They will remain on lockdown until further notice

So far no names or word on a suspect have been released.
