Posted: Updated:
AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn University fans and students gathered Tuesday night to welcome home the football team from the championship. Despite a last minute loss to Florida State University in Sunday's BCS Championship game, fans waited hours to greet the Auburn Tigers as they came home to Alabama.

"I realize again how thankful and proud I am to be an Auburn Tiger because out in that 17 degree weather there were people hugging each other and shouting 'War Eagle' and it's just a family," fan Bebbie Minter says.

Before the gathered crowd, Head Coach Gus Malzahn said this season was the start of something new for the football organization.

"These guys right here laid the groundwork for great things to come in the future," Malzahn said speaking of his players. "I'm going to tell you right now, we're going to go back."

The Tigers advanced to Sunday's college championship after winning the SEC Championship in December. The team's success this season comes after a 2012 season that left them with only three wins.

Rough Weather Causes Tree To Collapse onto House

Our spate of nasty spring weather this weekend didn't just bring rain into the picture. In some parts of our immediate area wind was also a major part of the weather scene. A good example of this is the house in Liberty County that was walloped by a tree. Apparently the house, located in the 4700 block of East Ogelthrope Highway was damaged when a massive tree fell on it. Neighbors believe heavy winds caused the tree to topple onto the building. The good news here is no one was injured. But t...
