Cold Weather Causing Issues for Lowcountry School Buses

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Beaufort County School District Officials report problems with nine busses. Some would not start, others had trouble with bus door hydraulics, which wouldn't allow the bus doors to shut properly.

We are told that other buses were used to cover those routes and though late, all stops were hit. Mechanics were on-call throughout the night and morning, because problems were anticipated.

BCSD officials also say that school heating systems were left on overnight to keep the buildings warm and to prevent long start-up times in the morning. The plan is to do the same thing Tuesday night.

As for Jasper County, officials tell WSAV that four buses in Ridgeland would not crank this morning but backup buses were used and no children had to wait at their stops to be picked up.
