Burton, SC -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating the armed robbery of a Burton gas station Sunday night.

Investigators say a man between 25 and 30 years old robbed the Sunhouse Petroleum on Trask Parkway around 9:45 p.m.

The clerk told deputies that the man asked for cigarettes and when she turned around to get them the suspect stepped behind the counter and placed a gun to her back.

After emptying the registers, the suspect fled the store, authorities said.

The clerk was not hurt.

The suspect is described as about 5'07" and 170 pounds.

He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black New York Yankees baseball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Sgt. Kelleher at (843) 255-3418 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
