Thousands of Auburn fans fill downtown LA for pep rally

Posted: Updated:

Despite being on the other side of the country, Auburn fans said on Sunday afternoon, in downtown Los Angeles, they felt at home.

“It kind of seems like we're back in Alabama actually, with all these people around, all the orange and blue around", said Auburn fan Matt Milling.

Fans say they're proud of their Tigers and everything they've accomplished this season. Sunday, at the Auburn Alumni Association-hosted pep rally at “LA Live,” it was an opportunity to celebrate this.

“It’s something that's just born and bred in you…Auburn to the core,” said Deborah Adams from Scottsdale, Arizona.

Auburn Athletic Director Jay Jacobs joined in the celebration, but still says there’s unfinished business.

“It's been a great mood, great atmosphere, everybody's ready to play, everybody's about tired of practicing the last 30 days,” says Jacobs.

While fans are supportive in Southern California, there are still fans struggling to make it out because of the weather. Jacobs says he is confident they'll make it out.

"I know if travel is a problem, Auburn people have more resolve and more ways to find their way to the coast than any other fans so if that's the issue, we'll have more Auburn fans tomorrow night,” says Jacobs.
