UPDATE: Suspect In Custody Following Shooting

SAVANNAH, GA -

UPDATE: Metro Police tell News 3 detectives have a suspect in custody.  Alfonso Warner, 28, was arrested by Islands Precinct patrol officers who stopped the gold Dodge Charger he had driven away from the scene. He has been charged with aggravated assault.

Eugene Mitchell, 23, of the 8500 block of Waters Avenue, was transported to Memorial University Medical Center by a friend after the 2:17 p.m. shooting on the first block of Thackery Place.  Police say the two men are known to each other and were involved in a confrontation when the shooting occurred.

Violent Crimes detectives continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.  A confidential Tip Line also is open directly to investigators at (912) 525-3124.

 


Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating a shooting at a home on Thackery Place and Montgomery Street.

 

Police responded to a shots fired call around 2:15 p.m.

SCMPD Spokesman, Julian Miller, said the shooting stemmed from a domestic altercation. One male was shot and self transported to Memorial hospital.

Police are releasing limited details at this time, but we will continue to keep you updated as new information comes in.
