Jonesboro Woman Arrested in Attempted Bulloch County Jail Escape

BULLOCH COUNTY, GA -

A Jonesboro woman is in jail accused of helping a Bulloch County Jail inmate try to escape on Christmas Day.

Sheriff's Investigators say Taziha Burnette, 22, cut a fence at the County Jail and damaged a window in Tahjz Irving's cell in an attempt to help him escape.  The U.S. Marshals Service tracked Burnette down Thursday in Clayton County.

Burnette is being held without bond at the Bulloch County Jail. She faces five charges including, Assisting a Person in Custody to Escape, Crossing Guard Lines with Prohibited Items, and  Interference with Government Property.

Irving remained remains incarcerated at the Bulloch County Jail. He initially faced a list of charges including Kidnapping and Robbery under an investigation by Georgia Southern University Police. Now, Irving faces six additional charges including Criminal Attempt to Escape, Interference with Government Property, and Making False Statements and Writings.
