SAVANNAH, GA -

Armed and dangerous. That's how police describe 31 year old Maurice Bentley.

Bentley is already a registered sex offender, but has now added murder to his list of charges.

It happened the night of Christmas Eve in front of a home on Elliott street in Savannah.

"There was a brief altercation, verbal altercation that happened," said Detective Robert Santoro of the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police .

Subsequently the suspect in this case pulled the gun out and shot the victim, continued to shoot the victim then took off from the scene, fled the scene."

Police say Bentley didn't just shoot the victim, Michael polite, once, but multiple times, even while he was lying on the ground.

"He's definitely violent," explained Santoro. "The fact that it happened on Christmas Eve at this location where the victim's family and children both were is pretty appalling and shocking to everybody."

Maurice Bentley is 31 years old, 5'10" inches tall, 145 pounds.

He could still be in savannah or could have fled to Jacksonville.

Bentley also may have altered his appearance by cutting his hair and getting rid of his cornrows.

"If he is out there, if he hears this, please turn himself in. We don't want him to get hurt. We don't want anybody else to get hurt."

If you can help find Maurice Bentley, call Savannah-Chatham Metro Police or Crimestoppers right away at (912) 234-2020.
