CHARLESTON, S.C. -
According to WCBD, WSAV's sister station, a former Charleston firefighter was arrested by Charleston Police for soliciting an undercover Charleston Police Officer to murder his wife, and per judge's orders Wednesday, he will stay in jail.

A judge denied bond for 41-year-old Edward Clinton Jones III who is charged with solicitation to commit murder. Jones' arrest is the result of an undercover operation by the Charleston City Police Department. Police say Jones solicited the undercover officer to murder his wife for $8,000. The judge also ordered he have no contact with his entire family.

His daughter screamed "I love you, dad! I love you" inside the courtroom when the judge said he cannot have contact with her. Sobbing, she told the judge, "But that was my mom asking, I'm almost 19 years old, that's my mom asking for no contact, I want contact!"

The judge denied that request saying, "Until this matter is resolved that's the way it's going to be for right now."

According to court papers, Jones told the cop to make sure and "finish her (wife) off" because he didn't want to have to visit her in the hospital.

Jones retired from the Charleston City Fire Department after 19 years of service. His mother told News 2, Jones is disabled in a wheelchair and has been on medication since the Sofa Super Store fire on June 18, 2007.

In court his wife said, "This cannot be blamed on medication, this is a sick plan thought out to take my life, to leave our kids with no mother. He has no remorse so he needs to stay behind bars. I beg of you not to let him out. I'm afraid for my life that he will come after me to finish what he wanted to do."

The investigation is ongoing. Jones appears in court again in April.
