COLUMBUS, Ga. -

A 26-year-old Columbus woman is dead Saturday after an early morning car accident on Buena Vista Road.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says Shavonna Johnson was riding without a seat belt when the car she was a passenger in collided with another vehicle driven by 24-year-old Chris Turner.

Johnson was ejected from the car and died at Midtown Medical Center after doctors tried to perform surgery.

Turner has been arrested for vehicular homicide and DUI among other charges.
