UPDATE: Pedestrians struck by car sustain serious injuries

SAVANNAH, GA -

UPDATE: Two pedestrians were hit by a car at Louisville St. and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. at 6:41 p.m. Saturday night, according to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.

Albert Wayne Pittman, 61, and Debra Elaine Haddock, 57, both from Greenville, NC, were transported to Memorial University Medical Center. They sustained serious injuries.

Police the two walked in front of a Chevy Impala as they crossed MLK Jr. Blvd. heading westward against the traffic light. The driver was a 35 year old Savannah man.

Saturday night, Lt. Greg Ernst reported that one of the pedestrians suffered head trauma injuries.

The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) continues to investigate the accident.
