UPDATE 12/29/13

The FBI released this update late Saturday night:

"Earlier today, a bank robbery occurred in Phoenix, Arizona, at approximately 10 a.m.local Phoenix time.  A male, 5'9", with a light complexion, wearing a mask and displaying a handgun entered the bank, filled a bag with cash from the vault, and then fled.  The robber encountered a Phoenix Police detective outside the bank and shots were fired.  The bank robber was shot and killed in the exchange."

More details are expected to be released in a press conference Sunday.

An intense manhunt is underway across the southeast for a bank robber who shot two police officers in Mississippi, killing one of them.

Special Agent Stephen Emmett says the man robbed a Bank of America on Piedmont Road in Atlanta on Monday, December 23rd, and is believed to have robbed a bank in Tupelo, Mississippi the same day.

The FBI has sent out an alert for the entire southeastern part of the nation.

Digital billboards are going up and authorities are offering a combined reward of more than $200,000.

Investigators say he may be driving a light grey vehicle, possibly a Chrysler 200.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who recognizes the man, seen in surveillance photos, or has information is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI (800-225-5324).
