2014-2015 Savannah-Chatham Co. School Calendar

CHATHAM COUNTY, GA -

The Savannah-Chatham County Board of Public Education approved the recommendation for the 2014-15 school year calendar.

The approved calendar includes a start date for students that would begin on Thursday, August 7, 2014, and would end the school year on Friday, May 22, 2015.

Teachers would return on Friday, August 1, 2014, and would finish on Thursday, May 28, 2015 (high school teachers would finish on May 27 and then return for one day during the first week of June based on their school's graduation date).

High school graduations would occur June 1-5, 2015.

According to the school district some highlights from the 2014-15 School Year calendar include: 

180 student days with 90 days per semester (will work with 4x4, A/B, or Traditional Schedules);

Recognizes all Federal Holidays except Columbus Day;

Fully aligns with the Georgia Department of Education testing windows;

Includes 4 pre-planning and 3 post planning days for teachers;

Includes a full 2-week Winter Break;

Provides a 4-day fall-break for students in late September;

Provides a full week Spring Break in early April;

Supports High School athletic schedules and Military PCS windows;

Aligns with the Savannah Civic Center availability for graduation exercises (not available May 25-31 due to SCAD commencement). Graduations would occur June 1-5.
