BREAKING: Sources Say Monken to Army

Multiple sources, including Sports Radio 102.1's Seth Harp, have confirmed to me that Jeff Monken will be the next head football coach at Army.  A press conference at West Point is expected to be held Monday... but could take place later in the week if contract details are not complete.

Monken interviewed for the post ion late this past week.  Army fired Rich Ellerson a week ago after winning just 20 games in five seasons, including going 0-5 against rival Navy.

Monken spent time as an assistant to Paul Johnson at Georgia Southern, Navy and Georgia Tech. Both coaches run the triple-option, similar to the offense at Army.

Monken immediately turned around the Eagles after arriving in Statesboro four years ago.  He won 38 games in four seasons, including leading GSU to three straight FCS Final Four appearances.
