SAVANNAH, GA -

UPDATE: In response to the suspension of Sgt. Laprentice Mayes, his attorney has issued this statement:

"It's  sad the City would stoop to this low. The officer that placed LaPrentice on leave is a named defendant in our complaints who is under investigation for drinking on the job. The City needs to focus on fixing the police department and not on attacking my clients." -William Claiborne, Atty.

Another twist to the troubles at the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department.

News 3 has learned one of the people threatening to sue is now off the job.

Several high ranking sources with the city tell me Laprentice Mayes was put on administrative leave this week.

That came after at least one hostile work environment complaint was filed against the Savannah Sergeant.

Laprentice and his wife, Detective Trina Mayes, were the first two people to come forward with allegations against now former Police Chief Willie Lovett.

Now the SCMPD is facing a total of 8 different complaints from current or former officers.
