JOHNSON CITY, TN -  After the regular season, playoffs, state championship and all-star games it was time to announce the News Channel 11/Watauga Orthopaedics high school football player of the year.

Thursday night at our annual banquet the 12 young men who were weekly Watauaga Orthopaedics honorees during the 2013 season were up for the player of the year honor.

And while the competition was fierce, we named Greeneville quarterback Zack Finchum, the Watauga Orthopaedics player of the year.

This past season Finchum led the Greene Devils to the state playoff semi-finals with a 12-1 record.

He passed for over 22-hundred yards, rushed for almost a thousand yards, accounted for 41 total td's and only had 5 interceptions.

Finishing 2nd to Finchum was Justin Jones from Chilhowie high school, Jones who has already graduated plans to enter the military in January.

3rd place went to Science Hill quarterback Malik McGue who was the Big 7 player of the year.

and the People's Choice award voted on in a landsilde went to Tennessee High quarterback Peyton Henley.
