JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) - A Tri-Cities woman headed to Washington to help get the White House ready for Christmas.

This is designer Liz Bushong’s third invite to the White House. She and 74 others from around the country helped the Obamas decorate for Christmas.

This year Liz decorated the Red Room. She and a few others created ornaments for the tree in that room.

She worked in the floral shop her first year and the china room the second year where she helped assemble the gingerbread house. She says the days are long and busy but it is all worth it.

“Being in the White house is just something special because you just don't know what diplomat or what past president has been where you were. And to be able to sit there on a mantle, underneath the mantle and decorate the mantle was just amazing, it was an amazing experience,” Bushong said.

Liz says a few must-have skills are tying bows and putting your ego aside  - that's because there are lead designers that create the vision and she and other designers actually implement it.

Liz, a Johnson City a life and style specialist is known for bringing a sassy style to everyday living.  She is a guest chef on Daytime Tri-Cities, WJHL-TV and an occasional stylist for Daytime Blue Ridge in Roanoke, VA. She is also a monthly contributor writer for for VIP SEEN magazine.
