Secret Service investigating Target data hack

Posted: Updated:

Authorities are investigating an apparent credit card breach at Target stores.

The secret service confirms it's looking into the matter, but didn't offer additional information.

According to a report from security researcher Brian Krebs, the discount retailer was apparently hacked last month around Black Friday.

Krebs says there's a chance the security of millions of debit and credit cards may have been compromised.

No comment from Target.

A spokeswoman from American Express says the company is quote "aware of the incident."
