DURHAM, N.C. -

Police are investigating the third murder in Durham in two days.

Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of East Shoreham Street in response to a "shots fired" call around 2:21 p.m. Tuesday.

When they arrived, officers found a male victim lying in the street with a gunshot wound. The man, identified as Desmond Ramario Williams, 28, of Durham, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting is the third murder in the city in two days.

On Monday, Jerron McGirt and Jessica Liriano were shot in the 2200 block of Cheek Road. Liriano was found dead inside the home and McGirt died at the hospital.

The murders Monday came the same day Police Chief Jose Lopez was set to give a quarterly report on crime in Durham to city council.
