Ticket buyers around the country are handing over their one dollar bills (or multiple bills) for their chance at one of the biggest payoffs in lottery history.

The cash option payout for the jackpot is now approximately 341 million dollars.  The lucky winner could also choose the annuity prize of the 636 million dollars paid out over time.

The odds of taking home the jackpot are 1 in 259 million but if someone should win tomorrow night, the prize can be paid as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual graduated payments or the cash option of approximately 316 million dollars.

(AP)- Lottery officials say the next Mega Millions prize could surpass last year's record $656 million jackpot.

No one won the $425 million prize in Friday night's drawing and on Saturday officials raised the amount to $550 million for Tuesday's drawing, the fourth-largest in U.S. history.

But the $550 million doesn't include weekend sales.
