LaGRANGE, Ga. - LaGrange police are looking for answers in two murders that happened Friday.

The first happened just before 8 p.m. when 36-year-old Larry Strickland was shot twice in the torso outside a home on Boulevard in LaGrange Police have issued a warrant for 30-year-old Erwin Brewer for murder in that case.

LaGrange police are also investigating the murder of 43-year-old Pamela Hardy, who was found with head injuries at her home on Colquitt Street. Investigators are looking for her husband, 40-year-old Charlie Hardy as a person of interest.

News 3 spoke to neighbors in the area, most said they were scared to speak on camera because of potential retaliation while Brewer is still at large. We did speak to mayor-elect Jim Thornton about the two murders and his plan for curbing crimes like this.

"It's very unusual for us to have 2 murders on the same day, that is a very unusual circumstance. We have very low violent crime rates in our community, but any crime is a tragedy and to the extent we can prevent them, that's gotta be an area of emphasis for us," says Thornton.

Thornton says his plan is centered on crime prevention. He emphasizes the importance of neighborhood watch groups. He says he wants folks to always report any suspicious activity in their neighborhood.

If anyone has information about either of the murders you can call police at 706-883-2603 or text an anonymous tip to 274637, keyword "LAGRANGE."
