White Dust Mystifies Savannah Neighbors, State Officials

Neighbors living in East Savannah  are working with state of Georgia officials to try and figure out the origin of a layer of white dust.

Right now it's not clear what it's made of or where it's coming from. The Associated Press reports that a resident named Dallas Phelps filed a complaint with the state Environmental Protection Division saying he thought the dust was coming from a nearby BASF manufacturing plant. An EPD engineer says he inspected the plant and did not find any violations. Officials also say the company has not issued any federal air, water or hazardous waste violations in the past three years.
