DURHAM, N.C. -

A little boy battling cancer and his family delivered Christmas presents to other kids at Duke Children's Hospital Monday.

Nathan Norman's family and a dozen volunteers brought 600 gift bags from Liberty Christian Academy in Virginia to Duke Children's Hospital.

Duke is one of several hospitals that the Normans, who live near Lynchburg, Va., donate to each year. It's a tradition they started with just their family in 2009, the year Nathan was diagnosed with brain cancer.

"They love serving. They love being able to give to other kids and just to give to others period," Nathan's mother, Dawn Norman, said. "They get more out of that than receiving something themselves. They love to be able to give. Nathan was carrying bags that weighed almost as much as he did."

Nathan turns 7 later this month and will continue his current chemotherapy treatments until January.

His family started a non-profit this year called Hope for Tomorrow, which helps with projects like the Christmas bags.

Half of the money Hope for Tomorrow raises goes to research, with the other half going to families dealing with pediatric cancer.
