Appling Co. Teen Charged with Murder

APPLING COUNTY -

Originally believed to be a hunting accident, the death of a 16-year-old boy in Appling County is now believed to be murder.  Authorities arrested 17-year-old Johnny Tyler Odom of Baxley for the crime.  The victim, Vince Lance Combee, was shot and killed Sunday in an area off Holland Road Extension.  Odom is being held in the Appling County Jail.

 The Appling County Sheriff's Department is investigating a hunting accident that killed a 16 year old boy.  They say the fatal shot was fired by 17 year old Johnny Tyler Odom.  It happened Sunday in an area off Holland Road Extension.  The victim is identified as Vince Lane Combee. Investigators say the 911 call came in just before 5:30pm. When Department of Natural Resource Rangers got to the scene they found Combee dead at the scene.  So far no charges have been filed   The accident is still under investigation.
