PICASO marks World Aids Day in Greenville

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

On Sunday, People in eastern North Carolina joined others across the world to honor those affected by HIV and AIDS on World Aids Day.

The Pitt County Aids Service Organization hosted a World Aids Day event at the courthouse in Greenville. The event featured red ribbon cupcakes, music, spoken word from ECU's Word of Mouth, and a canned food drive.

People also had the opportunity to share their reason for supporting world aids day on large posters.

This year's theme was “Getting to Zero,” which stands for zero discrimination, zero, new infections, and zero aids related deaths.

"We're trying to get the event bigger and bigger each year; because, we want to spread the world throughout Pitt County letting them know that we are doing something to fight," said Vice President ofPICASOo, Brian Goings.

This is the 25th year of World Aids Day.
