A massive train derailment leaves four people dead, dozens injured

Officials say four people were killed when a Metro North Railroad train derailed in the Bronx on Sunday Morning. Right now it's believed to be the deadliest train wreck in New York in more than two decades. At least sixty others were injured, at least of 11 of those critically.

Federal investigators say they have now undertaken what will be a 7 to 10 day examination of just what sent all eight cars of a Hudson line train, heading south from Poughkeepsie, careening off the tracks at around 7:20 am. A senior city official who did not wish to be identified said the train operator had told emergency medical works in the aftermath of the crash that the brakes had failed. That operator's account hasn't yet been confirmed.
