A Few Reminders to Help Guarantee A Safer Holiday Season

The folks at Home Depot in Savannah know a lot about holiday safety and they tend to rush to the fore when it's time to discuss ways to make the holiday home safer. A few key ideas they're sharing this year; first off, since it's chilly outside, use extra caution with your space heaters. There are several different  types, but the key things to remember here are not to leave them on while unattended, don't set them too close to curtains or furniture or anything that could become too hot and catch fire. Finally, be extra careful with kerosene heaters. Their flammable liquid means they need just that much more care.

Also, this year, instead of using those old, skinny, brown or white extension cords from the old days, use a heavy gauge cord, and limit the number of electrical items you plug into it.

There are new-style led Christmas lights available. They require less electricity, and they don't get as hot. Finally, be careful with your real Christmas trees.  You must water them daily, and make sure to get rid of them in 30 days or less. A few smart ideas for a better, safer holiday season.
