SELMA, N.C. -

ALE agents, and officers with the Selma Police Department and Johnston County Sheriff's Office arrested 17 people at The Ranch in Selma Friday.

ALE agents concluded a 6-month investigation after local police received complaints of reported illegal activity going on at the business.

Agents say they found employees were regularly selling illegal drugs, engaging in prostitution and other sex offenses and violating the alcoholic beverage control laws. Prescription pills, powder MDMA (ecstasy) and cocaine were also seized during the raid.

"Businesses that routinely engage in and facilitate criminal activity have a detrimental effect on communities and jeopardize the safety of North Carolina citizens," said B.W. Collier, director of Alcohol Law Enforcement. "Addressing these problem locations is one of the highest priorities of ALE."

The owner is identified by ALE agents as Bikramjit Singh, one of those cited Friday. WNCN Investigates uncovered Singh has owned a number of local businesses and operates The Ranch under the company name Southern Boys Fun Inc.

Police sources tell WNCN that officers have been to The Ranch on a number of occasions over the years.

The nightclub is known to locals as a longtime strip club that often flies in noted porn stars for shows.

Property records and authorities confirmed that Singh lives at a home in nearby Smithfield. However, when WNCN went to the home Sunday, we were told by a man at the home who identified himself as a friend that Singh left town Saturday.

The N.C. Department of Public Safety said the investigation is on-going and additional arrests are expected.

The Ranch is surrounded on either side by budget motels and is located at 200 Graham Street.
