Community Chips In After Effingham Crash Kills 3 Brothers

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA -

Community support is pouring in for the family of three brothers who were killed in a fiery crash. On Thursday, a tanker truck exploded on Highway 17 in Guyton when the pickup truck, the three brothers were in, smashed into the tanker. The tanker driver escaped but the brothers, ranging from ages 3 to 18, died in the accident.

"They were just like the all American boys, they always had their Georgia boots on," said cousin Brittany Hansen.

Brittany Hansen is holding tight to the memories of her three cousins, 18-year-old Wesley Mulligan, 16-year-old Garrett Mulligan, and three-year-old Eli Hickox.

"It just breaks my heart.  I have a daughter, I cannot imagine what Tracy [mom] and the boys' fathers are going through. It's horrible and it's devastating," said Hansen.

As a way to bring comfort to her family, Hansen has set up an online fundraising page to take care of funeral costs and other expenses for the mom.

"She doesn't need to worry about anything. She doesn't need to worry about working right now," said Hansen.

Hansen said the outpouring of support from the community has been amazing.

"At an hour we had $500 and by 12 hours we had $35,000 and it just makes my heart happy that people can actually come together," said Hansen.

With the holidays coming up, and what would have been Eli's 4th birthday in December, Hansen said her family's life has been turned upside down.

"They are just babies you know they didn't have a chance," said Hansen.

The fundraising goal is $50,000. if you would like to help the family you can click here: http://www.gofundme.com/5f1xa8

Funeral arrangements are still pending.
