St. Helena Island, SC -

Investigators in Beaufort County say 18-year-olds are charged in a string of home burglaries around part of the Lowcountry.

Sheriff's deputies took Brent Doddrige and Logan James Phillips into custody Monday afternoon after a failed burglary attempt at a 63-year-old woman's home on Sea Pines Drive on St. Helena Island.

The woman called 911 around 1:45 p.m. and reported seeing two unknown men with bandanas around their face walking through her front and backyard. When deputies arrived to the scene, the woman says the men jumped over the fence in her backyard and ran towards a dark blue car.

During a search of the area, deputies spotted a car matching the suspect's vehicle and made a traffic stop. The woman positively identified the suspects and further investigation connected them to three additional burglaries over the last two weeks on Lady's Island.

Beaufort County officials say Doddridge and Phillips are both charged with attempted housebreaking, as well as burglary in the first degree and two counts of burglary in the second degree. More charges could follow.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or text the word TIPSC with a message to CRIMES (2746347).
