Two Columbus brothers die in Russell County car accident

PHENIX CITY, Ala. -

Two Columbus brothers died in a car wreck in Russell County Saturday morning.

Twenty-five-year-old Ronnie Short Jr. And Derrick Tremain Short, 37, were pronounced dead around 11 a.m. Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. Confirmed.

Sumbry said the brothers were driving near Knowles Road and Crosswinds Road when they ran off the pavement and into the ravine. The silver Mustang they were in flipped over and both were ejected from the vehicle. Around 9 a.m. Saturday a neighbor heard someone calling for help and called police.

A third passenger in the car was injured and taken to the Midtown Medical Center. The man's condition is unknown at this time.

Phenix City Police is investigating.
