Expectant Mommy Expo to be held on Dec. 7

PHENIX CITY, Ala. -

Expectant moms in any stage of pregnancy are invited to a couple of hours of pampering at the inaugural Expectant Mommy Expo on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The event is free and is being hosted by Phenix City Children's and Fort Mitchell Clinic, a local pediatric practice founded by Ritu Chandra, MD, FAAP. It gets underway at 2:30 and wraps up at 4:30 at the Phenix City office, 3700A South Railroad Street Phenix City, Ala. 36867.

The goal is to provide pampering, valuable information and resources to participants. Complimentary services include neck and shoulder massages to ease tired muscles, mini facials, manicures, pre-natal yoga classes and a craft to decorate the nursery. Mocktails and light refreshments will be provided.

More than 20 sponsors are contributing raffle prizes for the event, and attendees will be automatically entered to win. Prizes include a free 4D ultrasound, free and discounted newborn and maternity photography sessions, swaddle blankets, a Moby Wrap, a pregnancy massage session, and a manicure/pedicure combination as well as gift cards to several local stores. necessary.)

Speakers will give insight into breastfeeding, stress coping mechanisms, the difference between the baby blues and full blown postpartum depression and what to expect during pregnancy.  Additionally, American Red Cross Health and Safety Instructor Pamela Nelson will provide an infant CPR and safety information session for expecting parents, and will answer questions about child-proofing a home, how to help a choking child and how to respond to other emergency situations.
