Game enthusiasts line up for Playstation 4

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK - The Last time Sony released a new Playstation gaming console, the world had never even seen an iPhone.

If you are fan of Playstation, this is like your birthday and Christmas, all wrapped into one.

The first new Playstation in more than 7 years sells for about $400. Sony says it's the next generation of gaming in the $63 billion a year global gaming industry.

“It looks like every bit you see in the movie theater. Start with the personalization and it will learn what you like over time,” said John Koller, VP of Hardware/Marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America.

The anticipation started building before the midnight Friday launch. Hundreds of gamers waited in line for hours to be the first to get their hands on the Playstation 4.

Sony says they'll sell 5 million PS4's in the next five months. But they're playing a crowded field against smart phone apps like Angry Birds and Microsoft's XBox One hitting stores next week.

And Sony also wants gamers to post and tweet up a storm. The PS4 comes with a "share" button that allows users to post favorite gaming moments on Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

Microsoft's new offering, the XBox One, will be released on November 22nd. It will retail for about $100  more than the Playstation 4.
