FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Cumberland County Sheriff's Detectives have arrested a Fayetteville man and charged him with running over his wife with his truck following a domestic dispute.

Ronald Joseph Guilette, 29, of Buckskin Drive is charged with assault with a deadly weapon.  Detectives say that Thursday, Guilette got into a physical and verbal dispute with his wife in the front yard of their home.

During the altercation, Guilette got into his truck and backed out of his driveway and onto Buckskin Drive, where his wife was standing in the roadway.  She was forcefully struck and run over by the truck Guilette was driving, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Victim Trisha Guilette said Friday that she has serious injuries to her spine, pelvis, ribs and abdomen. She also has a broken finger, several scrapes and bruises.

She was treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for lacerations to the abdomen, pelvis, neck, face and arm areas.  She also has a concussion. She remained in the hospital Friday morning, being treated for her injuries.

She said during the argument, she called police and she was standing near the front drivers side of her husband's truck when he ran over her, dragging a few feet down the road.

"[I was] telling him 'don't go. The police are coming. You're going to get in more trouble,"Guilette said. "He took off. I went under."

Ronald Guilette was released from the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.  He made his first appearance on Thursday. (Based on information from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, a previous version of this story said Guilette was scheduled to make his first appearance Friday).

Trisha Guilette says she believes her husband should also be charged with attempted murder.

"My life was on the line. I could not move off that ground. Every time they position me and move me I'm screaming," she said. "I don't know how I'm going to take care of my kids this way."
