Effingham Co. High Speed Chase, Suspect Arrested

Posted: Updated:
EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA -

A Clyo man is in the Effingham County Jail, facing numerous charges after leading deputies on a high speed chase.

The Sheriff's Office says just before 12:30 p.m. deputies responded to a home on Reedsville Road after a report of an armed individual at that address, sitting inside a Chevrolet Silverado and threatening to harm himself.

Shortly after, deputies spotted Daniel Crowley traveling on Green Morgan School Road in that pickup truck. When they attempted to stop him, he took off leading deputies on a chase for several miles, at one point attempting to crash into a patrol car. The pursuit ended on Reedsville Road when Crowley's pickup t-boned a Sheriff's patrol car.

Deputies then retrieved his firearm and had him medically evaluated before taking him into custody on multiple charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.
