Blood Drive Honors Soldier KIA in Afghanistan

SAVANNAH, GA -

A blood drive is being held this week in Savannah in honor of Staff Sgt. Vernon W. Martin who was killed in action in Afghanistan in October 2009.

The fourth annual event continues through Saturday at the American Red Cross Blood Donation Center at 25 Tibet Avenue.

Monday & Tuesday:  11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday & Thursday:  12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Friday:  8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Saturday:  7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The donation center is located between Rite Aid and Carraba's.

Appointments are available by calling 961-5765.

The donation center is also collecting non-perishable items to support Second Harvest Food Bank.
