General Manager of the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa, Mark Spadoni, tells News 3 that the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf will not be returning to Savannah.

A few weeks ago News 3 learned that Liberty Mutual Insurance had officially pulled its sponsorship of the event after 11 years and the future of the event was unclear.

Spadoni was disappointed, but not surprised by the PGA Champions Tour decision today.  He hopes to bring an event to the Westin in April, but doesn't know exactly what that event will be.

Mike Stevens, President of the Champions Tour, released this statement:

"Upon receiving notification from Liberty Mutual Insurance earlier this year of its decision not to continue title sponsorship of the Legends of Golf event after 2013, the Tour initiated a search for a new title sponsor. Unfortunately, the efforts to this point have not been fruitful," said Mike Stevens, president of the Champions Tour. "The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa, along with the Savannah community, have been a wonderful host of this event over the past 11 years. We are extremely grateful for the tournament's many dedicated volunteers and sponsors who have helped us raise over $1.9 million for local charities through the years. Although we will not be returning to Savannah in 2014, our hope is that the Champions Tour will return to Savannah in the future."
