New Savannah Company Gives Boost to Coastal Aviation Industry

There's a mini –industrial revolution happening in Savannah, and it all has to do with aviation. Specifically, the increasing number of companies rising to create products and services for executive jet aircraft being built in and near Savannah. Another such company has just arrived on the scene. Today the head of Savannah Aviation Parts and Services announced the company will soon begin construction of its key facility on Gulfstream road.

Aviation industry veteran Hoss Moglah uses just a few words to say quite a lot.

" We're going to be producing parts, labor, services for executive jets, like Gulfstream.

" This time we're going to get into bigger planes like the 737 , 757, airbus, 319 and 320"

He went on to clarify that his customers won't be the airlines, but some of the wealthiest people on the planet. " We're going to be serving the yacht owners." he said. Indeed. Gulfstream itself already runs such a business in-house, but there is a growing business for the manufacturer of other aircraft as well.

Construction on the new facility is set to begin to begin soon. SAPS will open in early 2014. -It actually will be based in two locations – one in Pooler on Westside Blvd., for fabrication and finishing, and the other near the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport. That part of the business will focus on the interiors for the larger aircraft.

Over the next 5 years the company expects to create over 200 jobs. Moglah says he wants most to come from Savannah schools and colleges.
