HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley highlighted job growth in the Palmetto state when she made a stop at Hilton Head's "State of the Region" luncheon.

More than 750 people came out to hear just how well our area is doing, from their elected leaders.

Governor Haley was the keynote speaker, praising the various industries that have made this region their home, businesses that Haley said added 39,000 jobs to the state's economy. The governor also spoke briefly about all of the growth here in Beaufort county.

"You are looking at what's an expected 2.4 million visitors at a $1.2 billion  fiscal impact. We're now dredging Sea Pines, we've got sponsors for the Heritage with Boeing and RBC, we've got $161 million in capital projects across the island. It's an exciting time for the region, its a great time for south Carolina, our job is to move on that hat momentum, and to keep it strong.
