Fort Stewart Soldier Killed in the Line of Duty

FORT STEWART, GA -

Another 3rd Infantry Division soldier has been killed while serving overseas, said The Department of Defense.

Sergeant 1st Class Forrest W. Robertson passed away Sunday in Pul-E-Alam, Afghanistan from injuries he received when insurgents opened fired on his unit.

The Kansas native was 35-years-old and on his fifth deployment. He served as a calvary scout platoon sergeant. Sgt. Robertson joined the Army in July 1996 and arrived to Fort Stewart in December of 2012.

He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Calvary Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

 His awards include the Bronze Star Medal with Valor device.
