Metro Police Homeless Liaison Hits The Streets

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA -

Community oriented policing in a different kind of neighborhood - that's essentially the job of Metro's new Homeless Liaison. Officer Tom Gentner spends hours each day visiting the area's homeless camps, getting to know the people who live there. It's an initiative with multiple benefits - both to police and the homeless themselves. Just like any other citizen - sometimes the homeless are the perpetrators of crime, sometimes the victims. That makes getting to know the people who live in our area camps important in more ways than one.
