SAVANNAH, GA -

UPDATE:

Eric Richard Fouche, 45, has been arrested in connection with the burglary.

He is charged with burglary, a felony, and no permit, a misdemeanor.

Fouche told investigators that he had been ordered to go to the house and retrieve some scrap metal, police said.

A witness called police around 6:30 last night after becoming suspicious of two men who were seen loading something into a pickup truck, police said.

Metro Police tell us at least one man is still being sought.

---------------------

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say one person is in custody and two more are being sought in connection with the burglary of a home on DeRenne Drive.

That home was the scene of a fire in July that took the lives of two girls, ages 6 and 13.

Another 13-year-old, whose name we are not releasing, was charged with setting the blaze that destroyed the home.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police spokesman Julian Miller tells News 3 that the house has remained vacant since the blaze but some of the families valuables and belongings were still inside the home.

This afternoon Southside Precinct officers arrested one suspect in the burglary.

They are searching for two others.

Last month, the 13-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of reckless conduct.

Investigators say she set something on fire inside a dryer in the home on the afternoon of July 14th.

Her family members died days later at the hospital from smoke inhalation.

At last check the juvenile suspect was being held at the Savannah Regional Youth Detention Center awaiting sentencing.
